the uKhahlamba Drakensberg area falls into four valleys.
It begins with the Champagne Valley in the Central
Berg, through the Cathedral Peak and Didima Valley.
This area is then followed by the Royal Natal
National Park and Amphitheatre Valley, and finally
the Middledale Pass Valley in the Northern Berg.
There are currently more than 20 000 individual
rock paintings which have been recorded at 500
different cave and overhang sites. The rock paintings
are one of South Africa's greatest cultural treasures
providing an insight into the traditions and cultures
of the San people. |
